HEAD. THE HOUSE OF HOMELESS
PAVEL SUSLOV
ARCHSTOYANIE 2016
The "Head" is fifteenth variant of the construction of canvases on stretchers, designed for temporary housing in the open air within the project "The house of homeless." It consists of 254 paintings, which, if necessary, can be removed from the frame in order to be able to work in remote areas of the park. Sketches are created during summer. When all the canvases are ready, the object is dismantled.
The project arose from the regular practice of traveling outside of the city and the need to paint large format artworks outdoors. An idea of the constructions made from canvases appeared, which solved the problem of storing the paintings and at the same time was the dwelling of the artist, which is why friends gave the project the name "The house of homeless." At first it was just a cube assembled from 9 canvases, then the forms were becoming more complicated: there were "houses" in the form of an egg, a truncated octahedron, a tank, a 3d-graffiti. The project was implemented in nature and during the city festivals. Invariable principle of all "Houses of homeless" was a realistic image of the surrounding environment. After working in the open air the object was exhibited as an integral structure or in parts, as a series of separate paintings.
